Korver Goes to Bulls, Signed Three-Year Deal
Kyle Korver returns to the Midwest as he was signed to a three-year deal with the Bulls. The former Creighton star and Pella, Iowa native hoped to stay with the Jazz, but could not ask for a much better situation than to play for the Bulls.
Former Jazz teammate Carlos Boozer was introduced in Chicago on the same afternoon that Korver reached agreement on an allegedly $15M contract to join him, so it’s not hard to find a familiar face in Bulls’ locker room.
Korver also said that he is excited about it. “I’m glad the process is over, for sure. I’m feeling really good about the team, the situation. It’s a great young team. Being closer to home is going to be fun for me. There are a lot of positives out there for me and playing there.” he added.
He spent two seasons with Jazz after the December 2007 trade from Philadelphia and that time, he averaged 8.7 points. In the games Korver played for them, Jazz outstandingly went 120-60.
Korver returned last season after a knee surgery and set an NBA record, shooting 53.6 percent from three-point range, hitting 9 out 0f 10 shots, which includes five three-pointers. In the end, he scored 23 points in the Jazz’s Game 3 playoffs defeat against the Lakers.
Korver said he never received offers from the Jazz, but also did not make arrangements for one. Korver was one of the most popular players of the Jazz, setting new standard for community work, and helping to build handicapped ramps for deprived families in the area by his foundation.
On leaving the Jazz, Korver said it’s tough. He also added, “I made a lot of great friendships. I think a whole lot of the organization from top to bottom. I’m very grateful for the years that they gave me here, coming here and being on great teams.”
At this point, Korver will set new things for his new team. There’s so much in store for Korver as he become one with Chicago Bulls.
